i'm not naming any names, but someone has been a little cranky today... adella's cold has progressed from occasional cough to a full-blown cold. the good news is, last night she slept all night without coughing. i take this as a good sign that we've seen the worst of it and things will only get better. one of her good little buddies had a cold and cough that turned croupy, so i was preparing myself for that. looks like we're going to miss it and just get the junky head cold instead. i heard that kids catch 9 out of every 10 bugs they come into contact with... so we have much to look forward to. i know it's good for building immunity, but it sure is not much fun. since she still has a cold, adella and i spent the day at home, reading and playing and napping and watching sesame street. i actually finished a book i started reading yesterday, and also finished a scarf i've been knitting on and off for a week now. i'm determined to finish all of my half-done projects so i can justify starting the cardigan for the knitting olympics. next up is the sweater i started in the early fall and abandoned before thanksgiving. but adella really hasn't been a complete crank. for the most part, we've had a really nice relaxing day at home. and the new shoes i ordered for adella came today! here she is modeling them: don't forget, she does have a cold - probably not the best time for taking portrait shots... and in my neverending quest to keep her hair out of her eyes, i bought these giant hairband things, with the small glimmer of hope that she might actually keep it in her hair. so far, the record has been about 15 minutes. little miss hot stuff. and here's one from last night. adella's new favorite game: jumping off the overturned laundry basket into someone's (hopefully) outstretched and ready arms.
