crafty news

it's been a productive couple of days, craft-wise. i have so many ideas and projects i want to start, and so many projects already in progress... it's starting to get crowded in my brain. it's fun and creative to have so many plans, but it gets to be too much sometimes and i have to take a step back and pace myself. but today is not the day for that. when i dropped adella off at co-op this morning, amy had lots and lots of goodies for me! first of all, our farm box this week - mostly the same standards we've been getting, but this time a yummy salad mix and also a few beets! second and best of all, the yarn we ordered came in! amy went loco and ordered over 30 skeins, but i was more conservative (read: broke) and ordered only 6. but six beautiful, soft, kettle-dyed, nice nice pretty merino yarn skeins: i haven't let myself plan/start any projects for this yarn yet, but i do have some loose ideas. something warm and fuzzy for adella - maybe a hooded sweater - and something for myself - not sure what yet. i have spent at least a few good hours tinking (that's un-knitting backwards, stitch-by-stitch) over 8 rows of the cardigan i started, after discovering a mistake i had made. i decided to NOT ignore it, and instead took the time to go back and fix it. so, no regrets later on. and now finally i am at a forward-starting point again. here's the progress so far on the crazy log cabin blanket i've started for adella: so far, so good. and today while adella was at co-op, i ran a few errands and then rushed home to make this bag: i used some recycled fabric i had in the scrap box, and at first i loved it, then hated it, and am now starting to like it again - but only when turned inside out. what do you think, readers? it still needs a button to close it at the top. i'm happy with the design, but not the fabric choice. is it better inside out? ah well. live and learn. and now, i have to return from craftyland and start feeding my family real meals and folding laundry so we can wear clean things.
