FO and other knitting-related talk
here's my latest FO (that's finished object, for all you non-knitters). and okay, so it's not completely finished - it still needs a few buttons - oh, and it still needs to be blocked - but close enough. once it get it blocked and buttoned, i'll have adella do a few model shots and i'll post those too. i'm still working on the basket (actually it has been put away for a couple weeks now) but i'm hoping to finish soon. it's looking good, but it hurts to knit! adella will love it, so it will be worth the pain... but i just want to be done with it. i've also been putting a border on a baby blanket that me, amy, and kim knitted for beth's baby boy, lucas, who will be born in july. pics of that too, soon. okay, so enough knitting blah blah...

suzy,
blocking is when you wet a knitted piece and gently stretch it and shape it into its' finished size/shape. sometimes it is not necessary. but sometimes, there are kinky stitches or warped edges or bumps or just plain wonky-looking things that need a little shaping.
blocking can't fix or disguise any major mistakes or anything that is totally deformed, but it helps give a project a more finished final result.
for the sweater, i had a few puckers i wanted to straighten out, and i stretched the whole thing out to make it a wee bit bigger!
