i can't belive how fast june went by. here it is july now, already. saturday evening was the first 'shindig on the green' of the season. this year was a little different becuase there is some remodelling happening at city-county plaza (where they usually have shindig) and so shindig has moved to a nearby park. i was really disappointed in the set-up: basically, the stage and all the seating is just on the baseball field, so no shade, just grass. part of the fun of shindig is the little picking circles that pop up all around the stage, but with no trees or bushes or anything to seperate the sound, the feel is just completely different now. despite my complaints, we did have a good time. adella especially. it's so cute to hear her say, "shindig!" she danced and clapped and ran around and jumped around and made some new friends and basically just had a ball. i actually got to sit down almost the entire time, and she stayed right near me (a big change from last year). she had a really really good time. so if you're ever looking for us on a saturday evening, chances are we'll be back at shindig. here's a few pictures: (unfortunatley, stig took the camera when he went to play music, so i missed many photo ops fo adella dancing and having fun. here's a couple from early in the evening.) here's a rare picture of me and adella. ignore the goofy expression - stig obviously caught me in mid-sentence. yesterday stig finally mowed our lawn - it was starting to get pretty wild. adella saw him with the mower and decided to get hers out to help him out a bit... today we had knitting, and we met at a playground this time, so none of us ended up with a messy house to pick up. it worked out pretty well, and the kids were all so worn out by the time we left, adella even fell asleep and had a little nap in the car! ****** today's impossibly cute activity: i came into the living room and adella had a big red blanket spread on the floor, covered with piles of pillows and stuffed animals. "look mommy!," she said, "i made a silly pizza!"
